Title : A planned robotic-assisted retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for symptomatic unicentric castleman’s disease: A case report
Abstract:
Castleman’s disease is a rare, benign, lymphoproliferative disorder effecting 1 in 100,000. It is characterised into multicentric or unicentric disease. Unicentric disease is typified by compressive symptoms with a midline mass often misdiagnosed as malignancy. Gold-standard management is surgical resection. Our case is a 73-year-old, found to have a 5.8x5cm para-aortic mass with unicentric disease on biopsy. We describe the first case to use robotic assistance, with indocyanine green stain instilled via ureteric catheter for ureteric identification, to successfully resect the lesion with confirmed diagnosis pre-operatively of Castleman’s disease. The patient recovered quickly without complication and is now symptom free.
